There are different kinds of bullying. They are very common anywhere in the world. Boys and girls are being mistreated by fellow classmates and neighbors. The victim is usually traumatized because of this kind of attack.

There are many who have already committed suicide because of incessant bullying. A number of gay kids in the United States of America have already taken their life just to escape the constant bullying that they go through. The news has been covered many times because of the growing number of suicide attempts among gay kids.

Physical bullying involves physical contact. A kid may punch, slap, trip, or push another kid. Sometimes, the attacker takes something belonging to the victim and then destroys it. This is also considered as physical bullying. In schools, particularly in elementary and middle schools, about 30.5 percent of the the bullying is physical.

In this article, we will be talking about the kind of bullying that is also very common. Bullying indirectly involves the use of rumors, creating it, spreading it, and excluding someone from a group. If a kid tells you something that is confidential for him or her and you have told others about it, the practice can also be considered as indirect bullying.

If you start a rumor about your classmate being gay or someone who plays dolls (the kid is a boy), and the rumor has spread like wildfire around the school, what you did will be considered bullying indirectly. Because of the rumor that was started, other kids have begun to taunt the boy by calling him names. About 18.5 percent of all bullying is indirect bullying.

Some people may think that this type of bullying is harmless and that the victim should just “suck it up”. Bullying is attack and there is no reason that can justify it. As adults, if we are attacked, we can sue because no one deserves to be treated in such a way.

Sadly, since we are dealing with kids, most cases of bullying are overlooked. Some parents think that it is just a training that kids should go through. This is an unacceptable justification. So many kids grow up feeling left out, hurt, and psychologically damaged because of the physical, verbal, and indirect abuse that they have gone through while in school and even outside the four corners of the school.

No one should have to go through direct or indirect bullying. Appropriate disciplinary actions must be performed to those who have been found guilty of bullying.

Bullying occurs every day whether in school or off-campus. Kids who are bullied are often traumatized. They develop insecurities and they may have lower self-esteem because of the attacks directed towards them.

But aside from direct bullying like pushing, verbal abuse, etc. in school, cyber bullying also occurs and this is happening worldwide. Kids are victimized through texts, email, et cetera. Through the use of digital technologies, victims are tormented, threatened, harassed, and embarrassed by fellow minors. What can be done to stop this? There are ways on how to stop cyber bullying.

First, you must check your child’s activity as he or she uses the internet and other technological gadgets. This will help you learn if your kid is being cyber bullied. Most often, kids would not tell their parents because they think their parents might overreact or even think of what they are going through as trivial.

Keep track of the frequency, type of attack, etc. Record the evidence such as text messages, emails, screenshot of blogs that are made to slander your child, and others. This is very helpful when you want to coordinate with the school and the authorities. Cyberbullying is real and you need to protect your child from it. No one deserves to be treated unfairly.

Following highly publicized cases of suicides committed by individuals who were victims of harassment via the Internet, many have started to ask: Is cyber bullying illegal? The answer to this is yes, this practice is considered against the law, but only a handful of states such as Kentucky, Arkansas and Maryland have a legal definition as to what constitutes cyber bullying.

Whether or not this dreadful practice is established as something that is against the law may not really be the most urgent concern. What needs to be dealt with immediately is curbing bullying at a local/family level. After all, no amount of law, no matter how strictly enforced, can really help a person if he or she has already successfully committed a suicide.

Instead of finding an answer to the question, “Is cyber bullying illegal?” perhaps the more pressing problem that needs solving is how to equip each and everyone out there, most especially vulnerable children, from the harm and after-effects of bullying.

Children must be constantly mentored as to what to do when being bullied. Maintaining open communication is of the utmost concern if this is the case. Bullied children should be provided with all the emotional support they need.

Parents have to be careful not to pin the blame on their children as such might cause the kids to shy away from asking for help. Worse, accusing bullied youngsters of fault, such as telling them it’s their mistake for “inviting” such hostility from other kids, won’t really be helpful. The bullied children might think there’s something innately wrong with them, which can then cause them to feel helpless and hopeless and thus abandon protecting themselves altogether.

Depression is something to watch out for victims. Needless to say, parents who notice depression red flags in their children must actively support their youngsters. Bear in mind that harboring the feelings of helplessness and hopelessness is enough to drive a person to completely end it all. The best thing to curb despair and morbid thoughts is to have a support system in place.

It is reassuring to have the question is cyber bullying illegal officially answered so that specific statutes can be put in place. But as it has yet come to fruition for all locations, parents shouldn’t just wait. The best and most effective method is to mentor one’s child so that the youngster knows how to correctly and adequately protect himself from bullies.

Recently, there has been a surge of concern with the rising number of suicides due to bullying. What’s worse even is that bullying nowadays is not isolated only in schools but also on the Internet and other media.

To stop cyber bullying, we have to first understand what it is. When a minor in any way threatens, harasses or humiliates another via the Internet through forums and especially on social networking sites, this is cyber bullying. Moreover, roles may even interchange between being the bully and the bullied; there already have been documented events of children killing each other as a result of cyber bullying.

To stop cyber bullying, everyone must take part. Parents need to properly guide their children on how to block cyber bullies on the Web, as well as inform the children to tell an adult in the event that someone bullies them. Both the parents and the school should equally be involved in teaching children how to interact responsibly on the Internet. They should not easily give away sensitive personal information to anyone and think thoroughly before they leave statements like status messages that could be used against them since they will not be able to take back anything that they leave out there in the open.
